Two astronomers — Kirill Maslennikov and Vladimir Surdin — invite you on a fascinating journey to the most mysterious objects in the Universe.
In one evening — two consecutive lectures on black holes, wormholes, and time travel.
From quantum physics to astronomical observations — everything that is known (and still unknown) today about the extreme manifestations of gravity.
Kirill Maslennikov will look beyond the event horizon — into the realm where our usual understanding of reality becomes irrelevant.
He will explain how scientists have learned not only to talk about black holes, but to actually observe them with the help of the world’s most powerful telescopes.
You will discover why time flows differently near a black hole, what happens to matter that finds itself nearby, and what secrets these enigmatic objects may conceal.
He will also discuss white holes — cosmic objects capable of ejecting matter outward — and explore whether they might have once helped the Universe “give birth” to the first galaxies and stars.
Vladimir Surdin will trace the origins of our understanding of black holes — from the earliest ideas to the discoveries that revolutionized science.
He will reveal who first spoke of “light falling into the abyss,” how attitudes toward these objects have changed throughout the history of astronomy, and why today we can speak of them as real participants in cosmic evolution.
You will learn how black holes evolved from an “impossible hypothesis” into a scientific reality, changing our understanding of time, matter, and the limits of the possible — and how the idea of wormholes turned from science fiction into a topic of serious scientific debate.
Two lectures — two perspectives on one of the most mysterious topics in modern science.
Together, they will show how black holes and other cosmic phenomena have become the key to understanding the structure of the Universe — and perhaps even the very nature of time
After the lecture:
— Q&A session— ask your boldest and most curious questions!
— Book signing — get an autograph and purchase books by Vladimir Surdin

The lecture will be delivered in Russian.
About the speakers:
Vladimir Surdin — astronomer, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, Senior Research Fellow at the Sternberg Astronomical Institute, science popularizer, author and editor of several dozen popular-science books on astronomy and astrophysics, laureate of the Belyaev Prize and the Enlightener Prize.
Kirill Maslennikov — astrophysicist, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Scientific Secretary for International Relations at the Pulkovo Observatory, host of the “Astronomer’s Notes” series on the YouTube channel QWERTY, and laureate of the Russian Academy of Sciences Award for Science Popularization.
Don’t miss your chance to spend an evening among like-minded people and discover how black holes help us look beyond the horizon of time.
