We have run film labs in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, making films together with teenagers. The labs were organised by the Alternativa Film Festival and supported by inDrive. The films have already won awards at festivals around the world and have been screened in Venice, Berlin, Toronto and beyond. In total, we produced around nine films in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and we would like to show three of them.
We help teenagers turn their own lives into films — their fears, their love, the things they usually don’t know how to talk about.
What matters to us is helping them find stories in their own experience, be honest, and spark conversations about the things they truly care about. In other words, we try to teach them to stay attentive to life — and not indifferent.
