Join us for a collaborative event organized by the Tehnopol HealthTech Community, in partnership with the Estonian Embassy in Finland, Business Helsinki, Helsinki Health Incubator, and the Estonian Investment Agency, scheduled for the 3rd of October from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Our primary aim is to foster stronger ties between Estonian and Finnish companies and organizations. This event seeks to inspire new collaborations, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and expand the scope for testing and piloting initiatives between both countries. By engaging in these activities, we aim to bolster healthcare system development in both nations and pave the way for innovative cross-border partnerships.
The event will host a diverse array of attendees, including representatives from government bodies, startups, SMEs, corporations, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and investors. It serves as the inaugural step towards a sustained collaboration between both countries within the health innovation sector.

Tehnopol HealthTech Community, led by Tehnopol Science and Business Park, is the largest HealthTech community in the Baltics. Tehnopol HealthTech Community used to carry the name Connected Health Cluster, which successfully facilitated 26 joint projects between various stakeholders in Estonia during 2015-2023. Currently, the Tehnopol HealthTech Community is focusing on supporting the companies and organizations through innovation funding, prioritizing cross-border collaboration, supporting with export markets and building the community. Tehnopol is part of various EU projects (e.g. through Horizon and Interreg) to support digital health collaborations and developments.
Health Incubator Helsinki is a unique three-year incubator program for research-based health sector teams and startups. The program was initiated in 2019 by the City of Helsinki and the University of Helsinki to drive the transformation of health innovation, research findings and expertise into international business, and to attract new talent and companies to Helsinki, Finland. Health Incubator Helsinki is embedded in a wider collaborative health ecosystem spanning the Helsinki capital region and it is supported by a broad network of healthcare industry experts, entrepreneurs and investors.

North Estonian Medical Centre (NEMC) is a pioneer in Estonian healthcare innovation. The NEMC is devoted to implement the newest treatment options, to comprehensively support research activities and clinical trials. The key areas for the hospital are to increase domestic and international scientific cooperation, to increase the proportion of clinical and academic research and involve external funds on a larger scale. The NEMC’s development activities are aimed at improving both in-house work processes and treatment activities, as well as streamlining patient journeys by focusing on the patient's needs and involving health service providers located outside the hospital. NEMC recently has focused on improving stroke, cancer and endoprosthesis patient journeys, where they achieved good results during the pilot period. NEMC has over 4800 healthcare professionals, with 7 clinics and 32 specialist centres. NEMC is one of the owners in Lääne County, Rapla County and Hiiu County hospitals.
Laakso Joint Hospital project: is one of the biggest healthcare projects in Finland, estimated to be around 1 billion euros. Located in the capital of Finland, Helsinki, Laakso hospital is the largest Finnish hospital project to date. Three new buildings, a parking facility, the vehicle access, and a tunnel to the main hospital are being constructed. Also, existing hospital buildings are being renovated and demolished. In the design process, Granlund is focusing on solutions promoting energy-efficiency and lifecycle sustainability. In addition to reducing energy usage, Granlund’s solutions ensure that the indoor conditions remain pleasant for both the patients and the staff and that the conditions can be easily managed. The Laakso hospital will be completed by 2030. Commissioned by the City of Helsinki and the Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), the estimated cost of the project is over EUR 800 million and the extent of the project covers 170,000 m2.
