A village, a dance… and everything about to boil over.
In the village of São Francisco da Fonte Antiga, time does not pass, it simmers. Under an electric heat and the sound of cicadas, life unfolds between the café tables and the shelves of the grocery shop. While the community eagerly awaits the Baile da Pinha and the arrival of the Heiress, a Traveller finds herself stranded there after her car breaks down. Almost everyone dreams of heading towards the promising Costa do Sul Claro. The Wanderer seems to know where North lies.
What happens to a community when what is most traditional and unique about it becomes nothing more than a commodity or a trophy of power? CALMA CA’ALMA asks whether destiny is a choice or an accident, and whether reality can truly be reduced to the physical and material world.
