Bog-shoe hike in Kõrvemaa (english group)
RMK Järvi Pärnjärve telkimisala, Suru
Online ticket sales has ended
In the spring bog, two seasons meet. Winter’s stillness is slowly fading and life is beginning to return. The red peat moss colors the landscape, ice still rests on the bog pools and the air is filled with the fresh scent of spring. Look closely and you may still spot the red cranberries from last autumn lying on the red peat moss.
The bog-shoe hike takes place in the Kõnnu Suursoo bog in the North-Kõrvemaa Nature Reserve, a hidden gem that was long closed to the public. The surrounding landscape with its hills and valleys, is often called the “Swiss Alps of Estonia”, offering great views and a truly unique bog experience.
We start the hike near the RMK Järvi Pärnjärve campsite (exact starting point will be sent to participants). In the bog, we’ll move at a relaxed pace, giving you time to notice the beauty of the bog landscape, take photos and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Along the way, we’ll talk about the bog and its unique nature. At the watching tower, we’ll take a break, enjoy beautiful views of the entire bog and have a snack break with the popular homemade Estonian dessert Kirju Koer. From there, we return along the boardwalk to the starting point without bog-shoes.
Transportation from Tallinn and back can be booked for an extra fee of 10€ per person. If transportation is needed, please check availability with the organizer before purchasing a ticket. Please send a message in WhatsApp +372 5307 2169 (Kätlin).
