“RELATIVES” — A UKRAINIAN FAMILY COMEDY IN RIGA!
The Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia invites audiences in Latvia to a screening of “Relatives”, a new Ukrainian comedy from a creative team associated with the popular film “Nu Mam” (“Well, Mom”). Yevhen Taller is the producer and originator of both projects.
An extended family gathers to celebrate Grandma Nadia’s 80th birthday. But the festive reunion soon turns into a battle over an inheritance. Maria, a practical-minded granddaughter, returns after years away when she learns that her grandmother intends to leave her the family house in a village near Kyiv. Her uncle Hryhorii, however, has no intention of letting his niece have it. Who will come out on top in this very personal property dispute?
“Relatives” is a warm, witty comedy about family ties, arguments, misunderstandings and the lengths people will go to when a house is at stake. With recognisable characters, unexpected twists and plenty of humour, it reminds us that family connections matter even when everyone disagrees.
