tremolo is a musical term for the repeated, rapid repetition of a sound, interval or chord.

Director Laura Kutkaitė and her team invite you to a performance-performative lecture on pleasure. The chosen title "tremolo" is interpreted as a vibration - both of pleasure and fear. Fear of not conforming to the "norms" created or imposed by society in the context of sexual pleasure. Fear of living up to the expectations imposed by others, which we so often embody that we don't even notice.

What has been and is being repeated to us many times? What remains silent, but we would like to know, understand and hear from each other so that each of us can feel normal and healthy in our sexual lives?

The director chooses the format of a performative lecture, which best allows her to touch upon the themes of women's knowledge of the body, sexual health and self-esteem through the main prism of sexual pleasure. She combines research-based information with documentary stories of people who identify themselves as women.

"A gentle force" is how the creative team describes the artwork.

Laura Kutkaitė is one of the most prominent young-generation theatre artists in Lithuania, known for her experimental approach that dissolves the boundaries between fiction and documentary. Having completed studies in choreography and philosophy, and later in directing, she explores themes of the body, gender, social exclusion, and identity. Her work often empowers women and challenges patriarchal structures through vulnerability and collaborative creative processes.

Her acclaimed works include “Sirenų tyla”, “Teiresijo krūtis”, “Judith Shakespeare – Rape and Revenge”, “Milena”, and “tremolo” – a performative lecture on women’s pleasure.

MMLAB (Arts and Science Lab, Meno ir mokslo laboratorija) is a professional theatre based in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was launched with creative projects where artists and scientists experimented together with new forms and subjects for the theatre works. The key MMLAB strategy is experimentation with artistic forms and subjects.

Now MMLAB is presenting emerging and established young artists, collaborating with the National and state institutions,  having strong international relations with European countries and partners around the world – from Japan to Pakistan.
