Join us as we learn how to gather and prepare Wych Elm Seed for growing!
A short and fun evening session focussing on a species that might be now less dominant in the local landscape than others, but no less important!
Meet us at Carronbridge Village Hall, where you can also park.
Bring sturdy footwear, we will provide gloves and collection bags as needed.
We’ll tell you all about this fabulous tree, one of the few that produces seed this time of year, and why it is so special. The seed we collect will be grown on by a local tree nursery and planted back out locally to help expand our local elm population as part of the wider SCAMP project in the area.
This event is being delivered in partnership between Darroch Nurseries and Dumfries & Galloway Woodlands (SCIO 052525). The event is possible thanks to funding support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Solway Coast & Marine Landscape Connections Project (SCAMP).
Dumfries & Galloway Woodlands is a membership organisation established to support trees, habitats and the people that depend upon them in the region. For more information, visit www.dgwoodlands.org.uk or follow us on social media.
