Write Jokes That Resonate

You know how to get a laugh. Now it’s time to make your jokes really land.

Organised by the team behind Festrogen Festival, a Luxembourg festival celebrating women and gender-diverse voices in comedy and performance, this hands-on workshop will help you sharpen your joke writing, find your unique comedic voice, and turn good ideas into stronger material.

We’ll explore what makes a joke work, and why even a good joke can sometimes fall flat. You’ll learn how to identify what’s missing, build on the material that gets the biggest laughs, and use tags to add extra punch, surprise and personality to your jokes.

Most importantly, you’ll work on developing a voice that feels unmistakably you. Because the goal isn’t just to become acomedian. It’s to become THAT comedian, the one people remember.

Drawing on the teachings of Adam Bloom and Judy Carter, this workshop is designed for comedians who already have some experience performing and for more experienced comedians who are looking to generate fresh material, strengthen their existing jokes, or get unstuck.

About the instructor:

Erin Crouch is an American comedian based in Germany. In 2025, she was paid by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs to tell jokes about Germans. She has been featured in Germany's largest comedy festival, Cologne International Comedy Festival in 2024, Boom Chicago Amsterdam (2021 and July 2024) Utrecht International Comedy Festival (2022) and Summer Comedy Marathon festival in Ohrid, N. Macedonia (2023). Erin is also a co-founder of Festrogen Festival.
