We welcome you to join us to celebrate WIND.
The Wind grants an energy that inspires. Wind is also a vital force for nature, pollinating plants and dispersing seeds, enabling spiders and aphids to drift for miles, transporting flightless insects, and enabling birds to soar and glide.

The evening will begin with a short talk introducing us to the wonders of wind from the perspective of the natural world, followed by a creative breeze of action, sounds, and words, performed by artists Helmut Lemke and Alex Rigg, who will perform with the winds of the Upper Urr peatland as it passes over the landscape. Their passage will be shaped by the peatland and the experience of ‘moving air’.
We invite you to join them amongst Sphagnum and Bog Myrtle and to feel the breath of Aeolius upon your skin.
More; the Wind will be amplified live, throughout the day, as it moves through the deer fences and grasses on the edges of the Upper Urr peatland.
Sturdy and appropriate footwear required as we’ll be walking down to the peatland edge. This is a short walk, guided by Helmut as part of the performance. The performance can be watched from the roadside for those not wanting to venture off road.
The talk will be at the entrance to the site.

The event is held at Glaisters Bridge Community Woodland, near Corsock. This is a 5 Hectare site which has been leased to the community (through the Upper Urr Environment Trust charity) by owners Foresight Group. The site has hosted a range of tree planting and visitor improvements since the lease was signed in 2023.
