WHEN BJÖRK MET ATTENBOROUGH brings together two very different minds. One is an experimental Icelandic musician known for pushing the limits of sound and technology. The other is a natural historian who has spent decades explaining the structure of the living world. This short film documents their conversation and collaboration around Björk’s Biophilia project.
Music is examined as a natural phenomenon. The documentary connects rhythm to tectonic movement, melody to evolutionary pattern, and digital instruments to biological systems. Björk performs and explains how she designed custom apps and instruments to explore the relationship between nature and composition. David Attenborough frames these ideas within a scientific context, grounding artistic experimentation in observable reality.
The result is compact but intellectually rich. It invites viewers to think about music not as entertainment, but as a fundamental human response to the structures of the natural world. On the FOMO cinema sound system, the textures of Björk’s compositions gain clarity and depth, reinforcing the idea that music is both art and science intertwined.
