What A Character!
(tips and tricks for easy character creation)

In this workshop, we will explore skills that allow us to bring interesting and connected characters to the stage with ease.

By playing through the lens of status, story, physicality and more, we will discover insights useful for both long-form and short-form improvisation.


Órla Mc Govern is an acclaimed Performer, Writer and Facilitator based in the West of Ireland.

She has performed shows and facilitated improv workshops all over the world, including in Ireland, the UK, Spain, Poland, Finland, Italy, Belgium, France, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Slovenia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Greece and The US. She’s been involved as a core team member in several international projects including The Seattle Neutrino Project, Spolin Players, Seattle goga, Improv Fest IRL, The Sky Babies and Our Lives. As a scripted and voice actor she works in film / tv / theatre and radio. Órla is an award-winning storyteller working globally with traditional and contemporary pieces. She’s also a professional playwright and has written 2 children’s books. Órla is the Artistic Director of the Moth and Butterfly Festival in Ireland and a member of the Ohana Improv Collective. She’s delighted to be teaching Tallinn for the first time!
