Pekka Laine leads a double life. During the day, he is a respected music journalist for Yleisradio, delving into the depths of popular culture in his popular radio programs and TV documentaries. Then there’s the more obscure side, the guitarist and music creator Pekka Laine.

As the driving force behind the cult-favorite band The Hypnomen since the 1990s, Laine has been creating wildly imaginative instrumental music. Encouraged and inspired by guitar legend Esa Pulliainen, he released his solo debut, “The Enchanted Guitar of Pekka Laine,” in 2021. The album is a declaration of love to the enchanted instrument, the electric guitar, and its cosmic echoes.

The next step was inevitable. The magical journey of imagination had to be brought before a live audience, leading to the birth of Pekka Laine & The Enchanted. In this six-member dream team, experience and vision meet youthful enthusiasm as indie veterans and the new generation of style aficionados join forces on the same rocket. In their live adaptations, Laine’s instrumental compositions offer a full-blown journey of the imagination.
