Using EMDR to Overcome Overeating

Friday 16. October at 09:30 - 17:00 BST

Online

This full-day online workshop, delivered by EMDR Accredited Consultant Sharon Pritchard, offers an in-depth exploration of how EMDR can be applied in therapeutic work with clients who struggle with overeating. The training is designed for therapists and helping professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the complex relationship between trauma, anxiety, dissociation, shame, and eating behaviours.

Drawing on clinical practice, research evidence, and specialist experience in both NHS and private settings, the workshop will examine the factors that contribute to overeating and the ways in which these difficulties may be maintained over time. Particular attention will be given to the role of unresolved trauma, emotional regulation, craving, urge states, and the wider social and psychological impact of being overweight and obesity.

Participants will be introduced to a range of EMDR-informed approaches, including the standard EMDR protocol, CravEx, and Feeling State Protocol interventions, with guidance on how these may be applied thoughtfully and effectively in clinical work. Throughout the day, Sharon will use case examples to illustrate key concepts and to support participants in integrating theory with practice.
