John Waters | USA | 1972 | English audio with English subtitles
Waters’s notorious cult film set the standard for transgressive cinema. Divine stars as a criminal drag queen fighting to retain the title of “filthiest person alive.” The film is loud, chaotic, and quite honestly - offensive, made with the punk energy that would define Waters’s career.
Despite its shock value, PINK FLAMINGOS captures a very real sense of underground creativity in early 70s America. Its influence spread across queer cinema, midnight movies, and independent art scenes worldwide. It remains a rite of passage for adventurous audiences.
