Flux Laboratory and the French Institute of Greece are delighted to present the short documentary The Olympic Cypher, directed by Stefanos Chatzis.
The Olympic Cypher is an artistic project conceived, choreographed, and artistically curated by Ilias Chatzigeorgiou. It was created to honor breakdance, the new sport featured in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The film follows the artistic team as they perform at various locations across Greece, accompanying the Olympic Flame on its journey from Ancient Olympia to the Panathenaic Stadium, as well as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), as part of the Olympic Festival Paris 2024.
At the same time, through interviews with the contributors, the film captures the significance of integrating art into the world's major sporting event, as well as the inclusion of breakdance as a new Olympic sport. It highlights its importance both for the local and the international dance community.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the artists.
After screening cocktail reception to follow at Maya Le Bistrot.
