You might have found yourself wondering what it is really like to run a tree nursery - what are the best bits? And the biggest challenges?!
Dumfries & Galloway Woodlands is thrilled to be working with Elana Bader from Darroch Nurseries (https://darroch-nurseries.co.uk/) as we investigate the potential for 'Tree Growing & Seed Collection' projects forming part of the wider Solway Coast & Marine Landscape Connections project (SCAMP).
A constant thread through this work has been the idea of setting up new tree nurseries - either supporting privately run nurseries or volunteer-led nurseries. This event will let Elana cover the pros and cons, the different considerations, and look ahead to the next ten years in this sector.
The event will consist primarily of a presentation from Elana, followed by a chance to ask any questions you may have.
This event is made possible as part of the SCAMP project, funded by an award from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. SCAMP is led by Dumfries & Galloway COuncil's Environment Team, and was the first 'landscape connections' project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible thanks to funding from lottery players across the UK.
The event is delivered online through the Streamyard platform, with lots of opportunity for the audience to put questions to the speaker. Streamyard requires nothing to be downloaded onto your computer, we will send a joining link out to signed up attendees in the day before the event.
The event is hosted by Dumfries & Galloway Woodlands, a charity supporting trees, habitats and the people that depend upon them in the region. For more information, visit www.dgwoodlands.org.uk.
