Billie Holiday was Lady Day, Ella Fitzgerald was the Queen of Song, and Sarah Vaughan was the Divine One. Me? I got branded the Jezebel of Jazz—which is… a lot. I’m not pretending it came out of nowhere. I’m just saying I maybe did a little light arson around the edges.
This is my story: a woman who wanted to sing jazz and basically told every obstacle to pull up a chair and hush.
