On September 30th at 7:00 pm in Almaty, astronomer, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, and author of "Unearthly Podcast" Vladimir Surdin will give a lecture on the topic "Time and its Paradoxes".

What is time? Can we answer this question? We use time, but we don't know what it is! For thousands of years, people have learned to measure time and have achieved incredible accuracy: the best clocks in the world will make an error of less than one second during the lifetime of the universe! But why do we need such precision? It turns out that we all need it today, without it, it's like being without hands!

Why do astronauts' watches run slower than on Earth? Why were "decree time" and "summer time" invented? Why are time zones so crooked? Why is there different time in different countries? And why does Russia constantly live in the future? Vladimir Surdin will tell you all about it.

Vladimir Surdin is an astronomer, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor at the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, senior researcher at the P.K. Sternberg State Astronomical Institute, science popularizer, author and editor of several dozen popular science books on astronomy and astrophysics, winner of the Belyaev Prize and the "Enlightener" award.

The lecture will take place in Almaty on September 30th at 7:00 pm at Smart Point, located at 280 Baizakova Street.

The lecture will be in Russian.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion.
