On October 1st at 7:00 pm in Almaty, astronomer, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, and author of "Unearthly Podcast" Vladimir Surdin will give a lecture on the topic "UFOs: Mysteries and Solutions".
Of all the pseudoscientific misconceptions, ufology is the least harmful and sometimes even useful, as it is based on the real possibility of contact with extraterrestrial civilizations and stimulates observation of rare celestial phenomena. However, when pursuing the search for UFOs, it is important not to fall for the provocations of the yellow press and to have a deep understanding of optics, aerospace technology, astronomy, and atmospheric physics. Only then will you have a chance not to miss a meeting with an alien spacecraft.
Vladimir Surdin is an astronomer, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor at the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, senior researcher at the P.K. Sternberg State Astronomical Institute, science popularizer, author and editor of several dozen popular science books on astronomy and astrophysics, winner of the Belyaev Prize and the "Enlightener" award.
The lecture will take place in Almaty on October 1st at 7:00 pm at Smart Point, located at 280 Baizakova Street.
The lecture will be in Russian.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion.
