SUMP in Nordics: How to succeed with sustainable urban mobility and logistics plans in Nordic cities
Wednesday 29. October at 10:00 - 15:30
Registration starts at 9:30
Jūrmala City Central Library – Strēlnieku prospekts 30, Jūrmala
Nordic cities are working to create transport systems that are cleaner, smarter, and better connected. The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) framework is at the heart of this transformation, guiding municipalities in designing safe and future-proof mobility strategies. But getting from vision to reality takes innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment from both public and private actors.
On 29 October, VEFRESH together with City of Jūrmala and EIT Urban Mobility are bringing together city leaders, mobility experts, and private sector innovators – including logistics companies – to explore what’s working, what’s challenging, and what’s next for sustainable mobility in the Nordic region. From rethinking urban logistics flows to integrating cutting-edge delivery solutions, this event will showcase how urban logistics is the driving force for economic efficiency and environmental responsibility.
During the forum we will showcase real-life case studies from regional cities that have successfully advanced their SUMPs, in-depth discussions about the roadblocks along the way, and case studies on how public and private collaboration can lead to smarter mobility networks. Whether you’re a city planner seeking innovative freight solutions, or a logistics provider looking to align operations with future mobility needs, you’ll find fresh ideas, new contacts, and practical pathways to action.
Highlights of the event include:
-
Presentation of a new report with insights from research conducted in partnership with leading urban logistics companies across the Baltics.
-
Keynote presentations from international experts on SUMP development and intersection of urban logistics and SUMP strategies.
-
Panel discussion on the role of SUMPs and urban logistics in shaping resilient cities.
-
Co-creation workshop on best practices for embedding urban logistics into SUMP frameworks.
During the forum, there will be plenty of opportunities to network with experts, planners, and decision-makers from both the public and private sectors.
*This event is part of the URBANLOGIX project, which is co-financed by EIT Urban Mobility.
