Ο Αλέξης Πορφυριάδης είναι συνθέτης και πιανίστας/αυτοσχεδιαστής. Σπούδασε σύνθεση στην Αγγλία (PhD) και στην Αυστρία (MA, Postgraduate). Από το 2008 ασχολείται με τη σχέση σύνθεσης και αυτοσχεδιασμού καθώς και με τις διευρυμένες σημειογραφίες. Διδάσκει αυτοσχεδιασμό, πειραματική μουσική και μη-συμβατικές παραστατικές τέχνες στο Τμήμα Μουσικής Επιστήμης και Τέχνης του Πανεπιστημίου Μακεδονίας, θεωρητικά της μουσικής στο Δημοτικό Ωδείο Αμαρουσίου και Ιστορία Μουσικής στην Κρατική Σχολή Ορχηστικής Τέχνης και στην Ανώτερη Επαγγελματική Σχολή Χορού ΑΚΤΙΝΑ. Είναι ιδρυτικό μέλος των ομάδων πειραματικής μουσικής και αυτοσχεδιασμού WHI ensemble (Αθήνα) και 6daEXIt Improvisation Ensemble (Θεσσαλονίκη). 

Alexis Porfiriadis is a composer and pianist/improviser. He studied composition in England (PhD) and Austria (MA, Postgraduate). Since 2008, he has been exploring the relationship between composition and improvisation, as well as extended notations. He teaches improvisation, experimental music, and non-conventional performing arts at the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, music theory at the Municipal Conservatory of Maroussi, and Music History at the National School of Dance and the AKTINA Higher Professional Dance School. He is a founding member of the experimental music and improvisation groups WHI ensemble (Athens) and 6daEXIt Improvisation Ensemble (Thessaloniki).
