On September 12 at 5:00 p.m., the Riga Latvian Society House will host the chamber music concert Stories Told Without Words. Pianist Lelde Tirēle and cellist Kirill Varjas will perform five masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire.

Stories Told Without Words brings together works by different composers into a single narrative of hope and trials, love and faith, memory and the strength of the human spirit. Beethoven's philosophical depth, Paganini's variations inspired by an ancient prayer, Schumann's psychological insight, Offenbach's heartfelt lyricism, and finally Franck's profound sonata continue to speak to us in a language that needs no translation.

L. van Beethoven — Sonata No. 4 for Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 102 No. 1 (1815)

N. Paganini — Variations on Rossini's Moses Theme, MS 23 (1818)

R. Schumann — Fantasiestücke (Three Fantasy Pieces), Op. 73 (1849)

J. Offenbach — Harmonies of the Woods, No. 2, Jacqueline's Tears, Op. 76 (1853)

C. Franck — Sonata in A major, FWV 8 (1886)
