Sound as Companion
An invitation to pause, listen and be alongside the things words can't always reach.
Sound has a way of reaching places that words sometimes cannot. It can invite us to slow down, settle into the present moment and find a little space around the things we're carrying. This offering explores how intentional sound can accompany us through life's most profound transitions.
Using crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, gong, chimes, voice and other instruments, Kia will weave together layers of sound and silence, creating a calm space to pause from the outside world and simply be.
Whether you're curious about the role of sound in the process of dying, reflecting on your own relationship with mortality, navigating a time of change, or simply drawn to explore this theme in a gentle and contemplative way, you're warmly welcome.
You don't need to arrive with anything in particular, and there's no expectation to feel, experience or work through anything. You might find yourself reflecting, drifting into rest, noticing emotions or simply enjoying the sounds as they wash over you. All of these experiences are welcome.
There is something powerful about being alongside the unknown, without needing to find answers or make sense of everything. This is an invitation to spend some time in that space, held by sound and the quiet presence of a shared experience.
Nothing to achieve, nothing to fix. Just sound, stillness and space to be.
Facilitated by: Kia Lucas, holistic massage therapist and sound practitioner.
Early in her massage career, Kia spent time offering massage in hospices to people approaching the end of life, and their carers. It was a deeply meaningful experience that shaped her understanding of the importance of gentle, compassionate presence when words are no longer needed.
A gentle note before booking: If you're going through a particularly tender or challenging time, and feel you may need more individual support during this session, please get in touch with Kia before booking. This will give us an opportunity to have a conversation about whether a group sound bath feels like the right setting for you at this time.
*Please note that this is a restorative group sound bath, rather than a therapeutic grief group or a dedicated end-of-life sound session.
