Shorter, Longer, or Tighter — With fashion designer Dorothea Knorr from

Tuesday 13. May at 18:00 - 21:30

MAISON SHIFT – 1st Floor / Metal Stairs, Zürich

This workshop will provide you with practical knowledge on how to alter your clothes yourself in the future. Whether it's optimizing the fit or shortening pants, you will be guided from pinning to sewing, step by step, to perfect your garment.

Did you fall in love with a second-hand piece that's not your size, or do you want to turn your jeans into shorts? Altering clothes gives textiles new life, and here you will learn how: The workshop starts with an introduction to BERNINA sewing machines and provides an extensive overview of the basics of alteration tailoring, such as proper pinning and processing steps.

In the second part, we will discuss your alteration wishes, and I will guide you with tips and tricks to adjust your clothing. You can take home all the information in a handout to apply and expand your knowledge further.

No prior sewing machine experience is required. Please bring your garment, along with suitable materials and haberdashery.

Dorothea Knorr is a trained women's tailor and studied textile technology and fashion design. She is the founder of the upcycling label A•DO•RE and lives and works in Zurich.

Bring along: Please bring 1-2 garments of your choice that you want to alter.
Sewing machine skills are advantageous but not essential.
