SEW YOUR OWN NEEDLE CASE & LEARN VISIBLE MENDING TECHNIQUES
Wednesday 23. September at 18:00 - 21:30
MAISON SHIFT, Zürich
Immerse yourself in the calming and mindful process of hand sewing and discover the joy of repair. In this workshop, you will create your own needle case while learning practical mending and textile repair techniques.
Using beautiful fabric remnants of linen, cotton and wool felt, combined with vibrant Sashiko threads, you will craft a unique case for your sewing and darning needles. The inside pages of the case will become a small stitch library, where you will practice a variety of simple mending and repair stitches. These stitched samples will serve as a practical reference for future projects and provide an accessible introduction to the world of visible mending.
Combining craftsmanship, creativity and sustainability, this workshop introduces fundamental hand-sewing techniques while encouraging a deeper appreciation for repair and garment care. You will create a personal object that can accompany and support your future sewing and mending projects. At the end of the workshop, you will take home not only a beautifully handcrafted needle case, but also the skills and confidence to repair, care for and extend the life of your clothing.
Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike.
