Scarce Moths and their Habitats in Dumfries & Galloway

Saturday 15. March at 14:00 - 16:00

The Bridge, Dumfries

The beauty and diversity of moths found in Dumfries and Galloway is astounding. Much of our knowledge stems from extensive light-trapping carried out by volunteer recorders in gardens across the region. Now there is an opportunity to join with other local moth enthusiasts to extend our knowledge about some of the special moths found in habitats away from gardens.

The meeting is open to everyone, whether you are an experienced moth-recorder or simply have an interest in moths. It will include:

  • Short presentations covering several important local moth habitats
  • Discussion about a potential local moth group and joint field visits in 2025
  • Plenty of time for informal chat with other moth enthusiasts

This meeting is being organised, and will be led by, Peter Norman and other local moth enthusiasts.

Booking for the event is free but we will be collecting donations on the day to cover room hire and refreshments. Any surplus will go towards supporting the running of the D&G Moths website.

This event is supported by South West Scotland Environmental Information Centre, but is not a SWSEIC event. It is taking place at the same date and venue as the Dumfries & Galloway Wildlife Recorders' Gathering. If you are interested in attending this event in the morning, please click here to book your place.
