SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER is presented as part of the week-long Music Film Fest at FOMO Secret Cinema, Tbilisi.
SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER follows Tony Manero, a Brooklyn teenager who escapes his working-class frustrations on the dance floor. By day he feels trapped, by night he becomes magnetic.
The Bee Gees soundtrack became one of the best-selling albums of all time. Songs like “Stayin’ Alive” reshaped pop culture and pushed disco into global dominance. The white suit, the illuminated floor, the choreography, all became instantly recognisable symbols of the 1970s.
The film is more serious than its reputation suggests. Beneath the dancing lies a portrait of economic frustration and limited opportunity. The music becomes both escape and identity. On the big screen, the dance sequences regain their scale and precision.
