Come on out for a hilarious night of Standup Comedy in English! Persian comedian Kourosh KJ and Polish/American comedian Maya Upchurch will join forces to deliver you an unforgettable night full of laughter. Expect quick-witted, clever jokes, with a healthy dose of silliness and an even healthier dose of energy. Kourosh and Maya have 5+ years of experience performing in Berlin, and over that time the two may or may not have become a little closer than just friends. Feel free to come up to them after the show and tell them which one you think was funnier so they can argue about it later.

Kourosh Kj is an established comedian on Europe’s stand-up circuit. Originally from Iran and based in Berlin, he is Berlin’s first Persian stand-up comedian performing in English. He has become a familiar face across the continent, performing at festivals including Fusion Festival and Feel Festival, as well as renowned comedy clubs such as Top Secret Comedy Club in London. He regularly headlines shows in Berlin and has shared the stage with international acts including Max Amini, Ahmed Ahmed, Neema Naz, and more.

His style is smart, silly, and rooted in sharp cultural observations with a touch of playful absurdity. Kourosh challenges expectations of what a “Middle Eastern” comedian should be, delivering thoughtful material without taking himself too seriously. He is widely regarded as one of Berlin’s standout comedians.

Maya Upchurch is ranty, wild, morally-corrupt. Inspired by the likes of Bill Hicks, Sam Kinison and Joan Rivers, she's a high-energy force of Gen-Z nature who lacks the ability to speak of anything other than exactly what's on her mind. Based out of Berlin, she's got a truckload of tales from the European capital of hedonism and her Polish/American background means she really knows how to take a shot. 

While Maya most certainly will make fun of everyone and everything on her path, her favorite person to roast is undoubtedly herself. Bringing light to her time-wasting habits, irrational anxieties, and dependence on technology, she believes that "punching-up" is best done when it’s an upper-cut to yourself.

Maya started doing standup in 2020, shortly after her first set there was lockdown because China was scared of her power. Since then she's done shows all around Europe, was a featured in The New York Times, performed with Don't Tell Comedy, opened for the likes of Ashley Gavin, Todd Barry and April Macie and did all sorts of other really cool and exciting stuff.
