Brush up your Shakespeare and get your show tunes ready for Edinburgh University Footlights’ production of Kiss Me, Kate! Cole Porter’s classic musical tells the story of the opening night of a touring theatre company’s show, The Taming of the Shrew. However, the drama doesn’t end offstage. Their production stars ex-spouses: vibrant and headstrong leading lady Lilli Vanessi as Katharine and charismatic, arrogant Frederick C. Graham as both Petruchio and the show’s director. Lilli and Fred may be divorced, but that can’t stop their chemistry or their incessant arguing - which begin to bleed into their portrayal of Katherine and Petruchio. Meanwhile, young nightclub singer Lois Lane plays Katharine’s younger sister Bianca, like her character Lois too has many admirers, Fred among them, but her hands are full with her boyfriend, Bill ( who also plays Lucentio). However, Bill's gambling addiction is putting the whole show in jeopardy as he recently signed a $10,000 IOU in Fred’s name. When two gangsters arrive to collect it, the show is thrown into confusion, chaos, and comedy.
