In the Light of Romanticism

Sunday 2. August at 15:00 - 16:00

Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation, Rīga

On 2 August, the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation will host a chamber music concert featuring pianist Lelde Tirēle and cellist Kirill Varjas.

The programme, “In the Light of Romanticism” (Romantisma gaismā), brings together three masterpieces of the nineteenth century, tracing the evolution of the Romantic era from its early beginnings to its late flowering. The audience will hear Franz Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata, Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, and César Franck’s Sonata.

The concert invites listeners to follow the development of Romantic musical thought—from Schubert’s intimate lyricism through Schumann’s psychological depth to the philosophical breadth and artistic maturity of Franck.

The evening will also mark the first collaborative performance by Lelde Tirēle and Kirill Varjas.
