RENT-A-LAUGH PART IV RISE OF THE RENTERS
Sunday 28. September at 20:00 - 22:00
BOLD Elephant, London
The London Renters Union is back with a fourth comedy fundraiser! Bring your friends and family for an evening of laughs, to support LRU in our fight to transform the housing system and win homes for people, not profit.
Line-up:
Kate Smurthwaite
Kate Smurthwaite is a left wing, feminist, atheist, polyamorous comedian and activist. She is also the host and star of the News at Kate video series. She performs at major clubs including Manford’s, The Stand, The Comedy Store and Piccadilly Comedy Club as well as alternative venues such as Quantum Leopard, What The Frock, Bring Your Own Baby and The Poodle Club. She has a Three Week Editor's Choice award and has appeared as a panellist on Question Time and is a regular guest on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine show.
Kate's campaigning work has included almost a decade as spokesperson for Abortion Rights UK and working with female asylum seekers through Women For Refugee Women and Women Asylum Seekers Together.
Alisdair Beckett-King
Alasdair is a legendary comedian and writer, in that there is little historical evidence that he exists. The multi-award-winning ABK has performed on 8 out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, Comedy Central Live, Radio 4's The News Quiz and at the Glastonbury Festival. Following several viral videos and a sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Alasdair embarked upon his first UK tour in 2023.
Hasan Al-Habib
Hasan Al-Habib is an award-winning stand-up comedian, writer & actor.
Hasan performed at the Midlands regional heats of the BBC New Comedy Awards 2024, won the 2023 Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award and was a finalist at the 2022 Chortle Student Comedy Awards. After selling out his double act show 2 Muslim 2 Furious at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024, Hasan will be making his solo debut in 2025 with Death To The West (Midlands) – a love letter to his Iraqi heritage and upbringing in Birmingham. DTWM has already received its first nomination for Best Debut at the 2025 Leicester Comedy Festival Awards.
MC James Ross
MC of 5x Chortle Award winning cult favourite comedy night Quantum Leopard.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no bar at the venue. There are local supermarkets if you would like to bring your own drinks.
FURTHER NOTE: Unfortunately the comedian Sikisa has had to pull out of the gig due to unforeseen circumstances.
