What is Reiki?
Reiki is the intangible energy that permeates all living things and animates life. It is also the name of a Japanese healing art and system for self-realisation founded by Mikao Usui in the 1920’s. It centres on five key elements which aim to soften internal barriers that prevent us from truly experiencing life.

The practice of Reiki is rooted in the belief that life force energy (Reiki) flows through every living being. In humans, emotional and physical imbalances often occur due to a restriction of energy flow. This restriction is caused by a feeling of separation from life -- your body, your sense of self, other people, nature, your purpose and passions.

The system of Reiki helps reconnect us to life by softening the barriers within ourselves (anger, fear, shame, grief, resentment and attachment) that are preventing life from living through us.

When the system of Reiki is practiced consistently, earnestly and with compassion, it can help us become more aware of our interconnection to everything around us. We begin to engage with life in a more balanced way and our sense of well being improves.

Reiki 1 Shoden
Reiki Level 1 is the first of the 3 Reiki training levels. In Japan this level is called Shoden, meaning the "first teachings".

The foundation of this level is on the self — self practice, self treatment, self inquiry and self reflection.

Through meditation, exercises, practice, texts & rituals, the teacher supports you in reawakening your connection to Reiki and your true self.

You will learn hands-on healing techniques and be able to share self healing and healing with friends and family.

Why choose this course?
In the West, most Reiki 1 courses are taught over a weekend. Some are even taught in 1 day and in less than 7 hours.

This course is taught in person over 3 consecutive Saturdays with 2 full days of class plus a 2 hour catch up day & closing ceremony.

I’ve thoughtfully designed this course based on what I felt I needed during and after I took my Reiki courses. I have spaced this course out to make sure that students have enough time to learn, practice, understand, ask questions and integrate the teachings into their lives.

The class is also limited to 6 people so that students receive plenty of one on one attention.

I teach the Western and Japanese lineage of Reiki. These are often called Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western) and Usui Reiki Ryoho (Japanese). You will learn a wider range of techniques and receive a fuller understanding of the system of Reiki.

About Jessica
Jessica is a Reiki Master. She began practicing Reiki as a way to support her self development. Reiki has been her greatest learning & healing tool. It has taught her how to listen & respond to signals of discomfort with curiosity & compassion.

Soon after receiving her practitioner degree, she began volunteering at The Magpie Project & Crisis UK by sharing sessions with those who are homeless & at risk of becoming homeless. After witnessing how these sessions provided relief, hope & a space for people to come back to themselves, she opened her practice, Abra Reiki. She shares private sessions, hosts Reiki shares, Reiki healing circles & is a Reiki practitioner at Magic Mums & The Muslim Cultural & Heritage Centre.

She's passionate about teaching Reiki in a grounded way & supporting the community's wellbeing by creating inclusive & accessible Reiki events. She is the organiser of The Community Reiki Clinic which offers multi-bed Reiki sessions at a more affordable cost.
