Special for Jewelry Lovers: Journey through the Historic House of Goldsmiths in the Heart of Tallinn's Old Town

Address: Hobusepea 2, Tallinn
Date: Sunday, December 15
Tour starts: In front of A-Gallery
Guide: Katarina Kotselainen

The building at Hobusepea 2 is one of Tallinn's Old Town's best-kept secrets. Although several galleries are permanently open to the public at this address, the cozy studios of dozens of Estonian jewelry artists and the awe-inspiring basement with its machinery remain hidden from the average visitor.

The Hobusepea 2 house is a fine example of historical continuity, allowing one to believe that fairy tales can come true. A large number of masterpieces in the golden treasury of Estonian applied art have been created here, including, for instance, the chain of office for K. Päts.

Built in 1891, Hobusepea 2 was specifically designed for jewelry production, and it still serves this purpose today. The room originally intended as a jewelry store is now recognized as the A-Gallery, full to the brim with unique author’s jewelry. The machines installed in the basement still operate to this day, creating contemporary jewelry artworks acclaimed worldwide.

Jewelry artist and historical enthusiast Katarina Kotselainen, one of the artists from the Hobusepea 2 house, will take you on a special journey through the corridors of Hobusepea, where the scent of the first republic era can be felt, introducing the fascinating history and current inhabitants of this building.
