TIF 26 – Polish patterns: Papercut workshop

Step into the colourful world of Polish paper cut-outs (wycinanki) and discover one of Poland's most vibrant folk art traditions. Featuring flowers, trees, birds, stars, and intricate symmetrical patterns, these joyful designs have been decorating homes for generations.

During this hands-on workshop, you'll:

• ✨ Learn about the history and traditions of Polish wycinanki

• 🎨 Explore different regional styles and motifs

• ✂️ Design and create your own unique paper artwork

• 💡 Experiment with shapes, colours, and symmetrical compositions

Whether you prefer simple designs or intricate patterns, you'll be guided through the process at your own pace, with plenty of room for creativity. The workshop is in English.

The workshop is run by Joanna Bartonowicz (she/her), who is a Polish philologist by education and culture worker/community organiser by passion. She has facilitated different types of creative workshops, mostly in the fields of printmaking and paper art. Her interest in folklore dates back to early university years and currently she's mostly curious about the contemporary reinterpretations of traditional handicrafts.
