Would you like to create magical patterns on fabric? This workshop introduces us to a textile printing technique where flowers and leaves transfer their own colors onto the fabric, and the result is always a surprise, as it often looks very different from the plant itself!
In the workshop, Corinna Mattner will teach us the unconventional "bundle dye" technique (also known as roll dyeing), where flowers and leaves leave their own marks. We will place the cloths/T-shirts in a fixer elixir, learn a bit about fibers, chemistry, and toxins, and explore how the dyeing process works.
Many of the plants around us contain powerful active ingredients, which are also used in medicine. These are often linked to color molecules.
During the course, you can print a T-shirt or fabric piece you bring with you, as well as a pre-prepared bandana/scarf.
At the end, we will open the bundles together, marvel at the results, and compare the prints with the original plants.
This course is perfect for you if you love plants and want to wear or gift something you've dyed yourself. No prior experience necessary. If you'd like to print something new, it must be pre-washed.
