Reciting John Milton's epic poem with live piano music from La Folia
Paradise Lost is an evening where literature and music come together in a unique live performance inspired by one of the greatest works of English literature.
Throughout the concert, pianist Matteo Ramon Arevalos performs selections from his piano cycle La Folia, while Arashk Azizi recites carefully chosen passages from John Milton's Paradise Lost. Rather than a complete reading of the poem, the performance presents a dramatic journey through Milton's epic, following Lucifer's fall from Heaven, his descent into Hell, and his determination to bring about the fall of humankind.
The piano and the spoken word unfold in constant dialogue. At times the music gives voice to the poem's emotional landscape; at others, Milton's verses emerge over the sound of the piano, creating a single continuous narrative in which poetry and music become inseparable.
The result is an immersive concert experience that transforms one of the masterpieces of world literature into a living performance, inviting the audience to rediscover Paradise Lost through the expressive power of live music and spoken word.
