Life is beautiful! Will you prolong it?

With each year of life, we inevitably age. However, this is not a universal rule, a fundamentally insurmountable law of nature. Some organisms, such as hydras or naked mole rats, have mortality practically independent of age — their aging is negligible. Studying these and other long-lived organisms sheds light on the molecular mechanisms underlying aging, opening up therapeutic approaches to prolonging life. How far has science progressed in these issues, where does aging come from, and how can it be stopped?

This will be discussed by Alexander Panchin, a candidate of biological sciences and science popularizer, in a lecture that will take place on May 28 at 7:00 pm in the conference hall at Institutul Muncii at Strada Zimbrului 10, Chișinău.
