In this workshop we'll learn Turkish gypsy dance (roman havası) technique and a choreography. The workshop is intended for beginners and brief acquaintances of Turkish gypsy dance, but previous dance experience in Oriental dance, Gypsy dance or similar dance styles will be useful.

Eeben (Sandra Vokk) is a performer and teacher inspired by Oriental dance. She lives and works mainly in Estonia, but over the years she has had the honour of performing and teaching in many parts of Europe and the Middle East. Eeben mainly supervises dance trainings and courses, directs and organises events, writes and compiles study materials on Oriental dance. She is one of the founding members of the Estonian Chamber of Oriental Dance and has taught Middle Eastern solo improvisation and Oriental dance studies at the Faculty of Choreography at Tallinn University. She has a Bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern and Asian Studies from Tallinn University's Estonian Institute of Humanities (specialising in Turkish language and culture) and a Master's degree in social anthropology from Oxford University. From 2010 to 2012, she worked as a dancer and dance teacher in Turkey.
The workshop is part of the 14th International Oriental Dance Festival. This is the largest Oriental dance event in Estonia with Oriental dance workshops, gala show, open-stage shows, a film screening and an Oriental bazaar. The event brings together dancers from every corner of Estonia, the neighbouring countries and beyond.
