OACC performances offer area residents a broad scope of musical entertainment, including classical, sacred, pops, traditional and folk music. Professional artists and vocal soloists from the Northeast regularly augment and accompany the Chorale in concert as they perform for the community with audiences of all ages.. In 2003, the Chorale commissioned and premiered the Christmas anthem Too Much Light for Midnight, composed by Alfred V. Fedak. Give Me Music! by Amy F. Bernon was commissioned and premiered by OACC in 2012. In celebration of OACC’s twentieth season, the Chorale commissioned local composer Samuel Pellman to create an SATB, four-hand piano arrangement of How Can I Keep From Singing?, which was premiered in 2015. In 2017, the OACC collaborated with guest conductor and composer Mark Hayes, in celebration of the Chorale’s 50th season. In 2022, the Chorale commissioned Andy Beck to compose The Power of a Song in honor of Kimberly Nethaway’s 25 years as director. Since 2003, several groups of OACC singers have performed in Europe and taken OACC tour ensembles to Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia and Slovenia. In 2023, OACC singers reinstated their Europe tours after Covid with Music Celebrations International. The tour singers have enjoyed sharing American music with thousands of European listeners in churches, theatres, community centers, parks and castles. Now in its 58th year, the Chorale has been recognized for its excellence by the New York State Council on the Arts and by the Central New York Community Arts Council.
