BACH TO GROOVE, Estelle Revaz
FLUX Laboratory invites Swiss cellist Estelle Revaz to present the world premiere of her latest creation, BACH TO GROOVE. Three centuries of dance and virtuosity: from Baroque to groove! This programme takes the audience on an electrifying journey through the ages, revealing the cello by turns as intimate, virtuosic, passionate, daring and exhilarating. With Bach, we enter the refined world of Baroque dance—a ball at Versailles, surrounded by gilded splendour and shimmering mirrors. Sarabandes, minuets and gigues unfold with timeless elegance, making the cello the undisputed master of movement. Then comes Cassadó, who shatters tradition with his Suite for Solo Cello. The streets of Spain seem to come alive before our eyes as the dances follow one another—by turns romantic and languorous, fiery and incandescent. Ablaze with passion and sensuality, the Iberian spirit sets the bow alight. Finally, the journey culminates in the sounds of today with Bollon’s Popsuite. Urban beats, irresistible grooves, jazz, pop and reggae—all the way to hard rock: the cello breaks every rule and makes the ground shake with exhilarating energy. The programme can also be enhanced by a unique choreographic dimension, featuring one or more dancers and creating an experience in which music and movement merge in a whirlwind of styles. A punchy, contrasting and accessible concert for everyone, proving that in the hands of an artist, the cello—from Bach to the present day—remains an instrument of boundless freedom!
