A 60-minute dance performance with live sound and vocals, co-created and performed by Kalli Pikas and Triinu Taul. The performance focuses on the phenomena of crying. Why do we cry? What makes us cry? When do we allow ourselves and others to cry? Does crying show weakness, strength, vulnerability, sincerity, all of the above, or something else entirely? Can crying heal and empower?

PREMIERE: April 1st, 7pm at ERM Jakob Hurda hall (Tartu)

FOLLOWING PERFORMANCES:
April 8th at 7pm at KUMU Auditorium (Tallinn)
April 16th, 7pm at ERM Jakob Hurda hall (Tartu)

Kalli Pikas (director and choreographer) was born on April 1st. In Estonian folklore, children born on this date are said to be born with a river of tears - meaning that they cry a lot, because they share a birthday with the devil. Kalli has cried a lot all her life and always tried to hold it back, suppress it, be stronger. Only when she allowed herself to cry did the crying suddenly become much less. The performance focuses on the phenomena of crying and thus also on other emotions, allowing or denying these feelings. Kalli invited Triinu Taul, a sound and voice artist, as her creative partner to open and expand crying and other emotions also from the perspective of sound.
The creative team is interested in when we allow ourselves to cry, when and what kind of crying is permissible and what is crying in general. The performance also studies the emotional connections between different generations, the songs related to crying and the emotional impact of crying. What are we crying about? Why and what makes us cry? Can crying be healing? Does crying show weakness, strength, vulnerability, sincerity, all of the above, or something else?

Tickets on pre-sale 18€/28€.
On the spot (half an hour before the start of the performance and cash only) ticket 35€.

"Crying wholeheartedly with my tail and horns" is a part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 side programme.
The creation of the performance is partly supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
