Chuck Stanley – Artistic Director of Nova Singers

Whether you're a devoted choral enthusiast or new to the world of community singing, Chuck Stanley’s journey is one of passion, leadership, and musical excellence.

A Fort Lauderdale native, Stanley began his music career at just 14, serving as a church organist and choir director. His work has spanned both Roman Catholic and Methodist congregations, helping bring sacred music to life across South Florida.

As one of the original members of the Nova Singers, Stanley has shaped the ensemble’s sound and spirit from the very beginning. His leadership was instrumental in the group’s rise to prominence, including a landmark performance at Carnegie Hall with composer John Rutter in 1990.

In 2010, Stanley officially became Artistic Director, bringing a renewed focus on excellence and innovation. He is particularly passionate about performing works by contemporary composers and expanding the chorus’s reach to new audiences. Under his direction, the group has continued to tour internationally, most notably with a concert tour through Budapest, Vienna, and Prague, and a celebrated appearance at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, where Stanley himself performed on the organ during Mass.

Today, Chuck Stanley remains a central figure in South Florida’s musical life. His dedication to choral music and community-building continues to inspire both seasoned singers and newcomers, showing that music truly has the power to connect, uplift, and transform.
