Group Discussion - Possessiveness and the art of letting go

Tirsdag 26. august klokken 19:00 - 21:00

Mashti Community, Oslo

Doors open from 18:30, please arrive before 18:50

Ready to get back into exploring the depths of love? What do we do when polyamory advocates for freedom and 'infinite love' but our whole essence says 'I want you to be mine'?

Come join us for an honest conversation on the topic of possession and explore together how to navigate it!

In the last group discussion, the feeling of jealousy was discussed at length. The stories, reflections, and questions that came up revealed just how closely it operates with a sense of possession: the tendency to seek safety by wanting to keep someone or parts of someone “yours”, even when the relationship is built on openness and choice. This can be a difficult and layered space to navigate. Rather than shaming the feeling, let's create space to help us recognize it, normalize it, deconstruct and reconstruct it, together.

We will be gathering as a small group of up to 20 people in an intimate and fertile space to bring together our doubts, experiences, beliefs and tools. This gathering is for everyone! Whether you are monogamous, experimenting with open relationships or have been navigating polyamory. We invite anyone who has been longing for a safe, intimate space to listen, ask, and feel less alone. It's a soft landing for those with questions, and a fertile ground for those with stories and tools to offer.

The evening will include both guiding questions and time for open sharing, with space for anyone to ask questions from wherever they’re at in their journey.

We will begin with a few reflections around:

  • Where do we draw the line between healthy and unhealthy behaviours that are rooted in possessive traits?
  • How can we recognise and shift our mentality to love as not a finite resource but rather as abundant?
  • How can we turn the false sense of security that exclusive ownership can give us into emotional safety?

Host
Margherita, a queer woman, has long been passionate about exploring polyamory in all its complexity. She approaches this conversation with curiosity and care, hoping to continue fostering shared spaces where the beauty and struggles of different relationship styles can be explored openly and honestly.

Join us at Mashti as we co-create a soft, brave space grounded in collective wisdom. Bring your lingering questions, your complicated emotions, your lived experiences, or simply your listening presence. There will be fixed agenda, no experts, no right answers. Just a circle of humans, helping each other navigate the beauty, the mess, and the mystery of love and relationships.
