- Business change across all phases, from establishing the case for change to monitoring milestones and benefits realisation.
- Retail expansions, encompassing geographic, category, bricks-and-mortar, and digital channel strategies.
- Workforce initiatives focusing on well-being, diversity and inclusion, and retention and engagement agendas.
- Her decade-long tenure in the not-for-profit sector as a Non-Executive Board member has honed her skills and understanding of how commercial can be applied to not-for-profit sector to do greater good.
Jan Gooding, is known to be one of the UK’s most experienced marketing leaders and is outspoken on a range of subjects from building responsible brands to inclusive leadership.
She now works primarily as an executive coach, specialising in supporting leaders who want to make a difference in their roles without burning themselves out. Her approach is eclectic and derived from multiple sources ranging from gestalt and cognitive behavioural therapy to Nancy Kline’s teaching on the thinking environment. Her coaching is designed to encourage independent thinking, self-belief, and authentic behaviour.
During her marketing career she worked in senior roles at BT, British Gas and most recently as the Group Brand Director at Aviva. In her final executive role as the first Global Inclusion Director at Aviva, she was responsible for introducing the ground-breaking policy of equal parental leave.
She is a former Chair of Stonewall and President of the Market Research Society. She is a regular columnist for The Media Leader, a Fellow of The IPA and an Honorary Fellow of the Marketing Society and Market Research Society.
In 2022 The Kaleidoscope International Trust presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award for services to human rights and social justice.
