Glaisters Bridge Community Woodland
We are very excited to offer a free writing workshop, outside, at Glaisters Bridge Community Woodland Site
We’ve been busy on site, with a lot of help, planting trees. It will take many years for Glaisters Bridge to become a woodland. So how do we do tell a story of what is there now and what this nature evokes in us? What narratives and words transpire in a place that is transitioning?
When we immerse ourselves in natural surroundings, we deepen our connectedness with plants, trees, fungi, water, earth, rocks and creatures. Through being in nature, we can extend our capacity for curiosity, wonder, and gratitude; and ground ourselves in the larger rhythms of the seasons and nature.
In this four-hour creative writing workshop, facilitated by writer & creative guide Dr Rachel Newsome, we will explore Glaisters Bridge Community Site through a series of nature-connection writing practices.
The workshop will include writing in response to the landscape: what we see and hear, what we feel, what we can’t see, and what we imagine. No previous writing experience is necessary and there will be no pressure to read anything out, Rachel will guide us and there will be small group discussions for collectively sharing our thoughts and streams of words.
All you need is pen (or pencil) and paper. And, in the spirit of immersing ourselves in nature, we will also be immersing ourselves in the weather, come rain or shine. So appropriate clothing is essential, perhaps something to sit on, and possibly an umbrella too.
Hot drinks will be provided, but please bring your own snacks, water, and packed lunch. If the weather is not too windy, we will put a gazebo up on the site. (Please note there are no toilets on site.)
Numbers are limited and booking is essential. Full event info sent out to attendees before the event.
