Miehen työ (Man's Job) - Lapinlahti Film Festival 2026

Man's Job tells the story of Juha (Tommi Korpela), who has been laid off from his job at a concrete factory. Ashamed of his failure and worried about his family's financial situation, he also fears upsetting the fragile mental health of his wife, Katja (Maria Heiskanen). For that reason, he decides not to tell her that he has lost his job. Juha continues to wake up early every morning as if he were going to work, but instead spends his days at a remote service station, desperately searching for a way out of the web of lies that grows more complicated with each passing day.

One day, Juha posts a notice on the service station bulletin board offering his services as a handyman. A woman responds—“I need someone to tear down a wall or something…”—and, unexpectedly, Juha soon finds himself brushing the hair of a completely naked stranger. He realizes that he earns as much in one hour as he used to make in two days at his old job. With the help of his friend Olli (Jani Volanen), Juha decides to change careers—at least for the time being.
