Melissa & Chris Bruntlett in Tallinn: Professional workshop "Shifting to Urban Vitality: Creating a new narrative for a healthier, happier Tallinn"
Friday 4. September at 09:30 - 12:30
to be announced
Professional Development Workshop "Shifting to Urban Vitality: Creating a new narrative for a healthier, happier Tallinn" is a 3-hour workshop for local practitioners with the focus on the role of communications in local projects including:
understanding who you are planning for,
what their needs and values are,
how to create a narrative and messaging that resonates with them,
how to address backlash to build broad support.
The aim of the workshop is to support the work of local advocates and professionals in creating an Estonia that is more welcoming and comfortable for people walking and cycling, and public spaces that invite social activity.
Melissa and Chris Bruntlett are authors and urban mobility advocates who strive to communicate the benefits of sustainable transport and inspire happier, healthier, more human-scale cities.
Melissa is a Dutch Canadian urban mobility advocate, author, and storyteller based in Delft, the Netherlands. She is the founder of Modacity Creative, an independent consultancy that partners with advocates, professionals, and city leaders to bridge the gap between creative thinking and lasting behaviour change. Her work centers on developing projects with positive social impact through storytelling, narrative building, inspiration sessions, and interactive workshops, helping organisations and partners realise a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable mobility future.
A long-time mobility advocate in Vancouver before relocating to the Netherlands in 2019, Melissa brings both lived experience and professional expertise to the question of who cities are built for and who they leave behind. She is the co-author of Building the Cycling City and Curbing Traffic.
Chris is International Relations Manager at the Dutch Cycling Embassy, a public-private partnership that shares knowledge and expertise from the Netherlands with cities around the world. In his role, Chris creates multimedia content that communicates the qualitative benefits of multi-modal transport systems while strengthening diplomatic and economic relationships across the globe.
A Canadian now rooted in Delft, he shares the lessons of Dutch urban design with city-builders everywhere through writing, speaking, and an extensive online presence. He is the co-author of Building the Cycling City and Curbing Traffic.
