Masha Godovannaya: In Betweens

Friday 20. March at 19:00 - 22:00

Arc London

Experimental filmmaker, queer-feminist researcher, curator, and educator Masha Godovannaya reflects on her artistic practice and its many connections. Bridging New York’s underground — through the diaristic experiments of Jonas Mekas and the queer poetry of Eileen Myles — with the aesthetic resistance of Leningrad/Saint Petersburg, she weaves together legacies of Eisenstein, Kenneth Anger, and Necrorealism. Working across artistic research, montage, found footage, city symphony, poetry, and collective action, she mobilises these forms for her own ends — without ever fully settling into any single one of them.

The performative talk is punctuated and shaped by a selection of Godovannaya’s moving-image works.

Hosted by curator Kira Adibekov (Armenian Film Society London)
