The history of Krenholm textile factories can be considered as an ideal guide to the study of the world textile industry of the 19th and 20th centuries: dizzying economic ups and downs, unprecedented scale of production for Estonia and fateful partnership agreements, the construction of an entire textile city around factory buildings and incredible stories of the workers who happened to be here by the will of fate.
We will tell you all about this during our new tour, which takes place inside the Joal factory, a red–brick building with breathtaking views from the tower. Being one of the last closed in the Krenholm complex, the Joala factory has preserved the atmosphere of the enterprise in the best way: the hum of spinning machines that has been frozen up in the walls, the steps still remember hundreds of feet running up and down ....
As the building has been empty for several years, there is no electricity in it, and there are also some dangerous places. For this reason, the number of participants is limited, the age is 16+, at the beginning of the tour all participants are obliged to have a safety briefing and wear safety helmets
Meeting place: at Krenholm's old entrance, which is located opposite Joala 32.
Amenities: Complimentary parking is available next to the entrance, where you may leave your car or coach for the duration of the tour.
